Alpha Public School’s Gifted and Talented program’s coordinator is Pamela Cutarelli. Students are identified once each academic year using the following: SAGES-3 screening assessment, the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA), the Renzulli Scales for Rating the Behavioral Characteristics of Superior Students, and teacher observations. Parents are notified if their child qualifies for the program by the end of the first marking period. Identified students receive grade appropriate curricular and instructional modifications and opportunities for activities and events within and outside of the school. Examples of these events include, but are not limited to, Fabulous Physics, Battle of the Minds, Battle of the Books, Spelling Bee, and the Pringles Potato Chip Challenge.
