Breakfast at Alpha School
Alpha Public School would like to remind parents and guardians that breakfast is available each morning for all students in our cafeteria. Breakfast is served daily from 7:45-8:10 a.m., and the cost is $1.25. If students are enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program, they are automatically enrolled in the breakfast program as well. The cost of a reduced breakfast is $0.30.
To help remind students to begin each day properly with a nutritious meal, this month the teachers at Alpha Public School are offering a free breakfast to all students. This free breakfast will be available on Tuesday, December 10, for preschool through fourth grade, and on Wednesday, December 11, for fifth grade through eighth grade.
Please take this opportunity to discuss the benefits of a healthy breakfast with your child. Thank you.

Alpha Public School Budget Information
Information regarding the 2013-2014 School Budget was presented in a Public Budget Hearing at the March 26, 2013 Board of Education Meeting.
On Jan. 17 Gov. Chris Christie signed legislation that permits communities to move the annual school board member election to November while eliminating the vote on a district’s proposed budget that is at or below the tax levy cap.
Under the law, there are three ways a community can move the election:
(1) a board of education can pass a resolution;
(2) the municipal governing body or bodies can pass a resolution; or
(3) voters can pass a public question that is presented to them at the November General Election.
Both the Alpha School Board and the Alpha Town Council passed resolutions in 2012 moving the school board member election to November. The vote on the 2013-2014 school budget, being kept under the tax levy cap, has been eliminated.
